SEN PE Teacher Location of School : Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire
Salary: M1 -M6 £31,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience Hours: 40 hours per week
This school provides specialist academic and therapeutic support in a welcoming environment for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
- We encourage applications from qualified teachers both from primary and secondary backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
- Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
The Role:
To deliver high quality KS2 Teaching with Physical Education as a specialism in classes no bigger than 8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for the day to day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day to day running of the school.
- To assess, record and report pupils’ progress according the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
- To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants including Professional Development Reviews.
- To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings and any other relevant staff meetings.
- To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of pupils informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
