About The SEN School

The school is part of an education trust and is a leading provider of education and care for children, young people, and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.

At this SEN school in Leyland, they offer specialist academic and therapeutic support for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

The school are looking for an experienced SEN PE Teacher to deliver high-quality KS2 teaching, specializing in Physical Education, within small class sizes of no more than eight students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of your class while contributing to the wider school environment.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupil progress in accordance with school policies.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Support and mentor Assistant Teachers and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants.
  • Participate in staff meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Monitor student well-being and liaise with care staff, medical professionals, and behaviour support teams to provide appropriate support.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualifications: PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with SEND students, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of autism and associated conditions and how they impact learning.
  • Behaviour Management: Ability to implement effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Curriculum Development: Experience in adapting and developing curricula for SEND students.
