Helmrig Ltd are seeking a motivated and reliable Invasive Weed Site Operative to join our Knotweed Eradication team. In this role, you will assist with the identification, treatment, and removal of invasive plant species such as Japanese knotweed, Himalayan balsam, and giant hogweed across a range of sites. The position involves physical outdoor work in varying conditions and environments, ensuring compliance with environmental guidelines and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site surveys to identify and assess invasive weed infestations
- Apply appropriate treatment methods including herbicide application, excavation and mechanical removal
- Operate and maintain equipment safely (e.g. knapsacks, brush cutters, diggers depending on certification)
- Record site activity, treatment progress and environmental conditions accurately
- Follow Health & Safety and environmental risk assessments
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and clients when required
- Travel to various locations with occasional overnight stays

- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Full UK driving licence (over 21 years of age and held for two years)
- Good physical fitness and manual handling capability
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and adherence to safety standards
- PA1/PA6 NPTC Certificate in Pesticide Application
Desirable Qualifications (not essential, but preferred)
- CSCS Card
- Experience in invasive weed control or land remediation
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Environmental Protection Act 1990)
