Commercial Solicitor - Department Head

Job Title: Commercial Solicitor (Department Lead)Location: Lichfield Area (Hybrid, 2 days a week in the office)Salary: Competitive with city rates - Based on ExperienceJob Type: Full-time, PermanentAre you an experienced Commercial Solicitor looking for an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a new Commercial department? Our client, a prestigious law firm with a strong Legal 500 Corporate Team, is seeking a dynamic solicitor to build and head up their Commercial department.This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking firm and work alongside an established corporate team that will provide internal referrals and support. As the successful candidate, you'll have the autonomy to shape and grow the department from the ground up, initially working independently but with a strong support structure in place. You'll be supported by a dedicated team of staff, and the firm offers fantastic flexibility, including the option to only be in the office two days a week.Key Responsibilities:* Establish and lead the Commercial department, initially working independently.* Manage and build a diverse caseload of commercial contracts, corporate governance, and related matters.* Collaborate with the Legal 500 corporate team, receiving internal referrals.* Build relationships with clients and offer expert legal advice to help them grow their business.* Work closely with support staff to ensure efficient department operations.Key Requirements:* Qualified Solicitor (minimum 4 years PQE) with potentially experience in corporate law too.* Strong commercial contract experience (prior experience in corporate files is highly beneficial).* Able to work independently and take ownership of a new department.* Ambitious, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to grow and develop a commercial offering.* Excellent client management and communication skills.* Ability to adapt to flexible working, including a hybrid working model (2 days in the office).What We Offer:* Flexible working with the option of working from home up to three days a week.* A competitive salary with excellent benefits.* A supportive and collaborative work environment with a fantastic work-life balance.* The opportunity to be part of a growing, progressive firm with clear career progression.This role is based in the Lichfield area, but you do not need to be local to apply due to the flexibility on offer.
