My client is a rapidly growing food business. Due to the exceptional levels of growth (across both the UK and Europe) they are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the role will be incredibly diverse. Typical responsibilities include -

  • Manage and grow the 2 main category products within the company's portfolio(fresh produce)
  • Manage the major suppliers from India, Egypt, Greece
  • Manage and co-ordinate all activities related to procurement of fresh produce -beginning with intent to purchase through to delivery
  • Manage and co-ordinate appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost-effective manner indulging freight from source if required.
  • Collaborate with the packhouse to ensure correct product being used and manage stocks.
  • Help reduce cost and maximise company profitability
  • Negotiate the lowest possible cost for the fruit balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs
  • Manage and maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices and other documents to assure accurate retention of records

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Procurement Manager with a background within food or fresh produce. Experience working on a global level will be advantageous. Another advantage will be working knowledge of the retail environmentof Western Europe which can be utilised to create growth with the Eastern European retail environment.
