One of our dedicated alternative provision schools specializing in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is searching for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their team. Their mission is to support and empower students facing significant challenges in mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personalized learning plans.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Manage challenging behaviour with effective de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student’s development.
  • Motivate students to engage with their education and develop social skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students in an SEMH or alternative provision setting.
  • Understanding of mental health issues and their impact on education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or mental health are desirable.
