An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Scientist to join a leading organisation in the Underwater Measurement Systems sector, based in Staffordshire. This role is within a dedicated Research Team, focusing on electromagnetic field studies, software development, and system design related to vessel systems and underwater measurement ranges. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of experts to develop innovative technical solutions and contribute to cutting-edge projects.

Key Responsibilities:

The role will involve a variety of scientific, modelling, and programming activities across different project stages, including:

  • Magnetic and electric source modelling
  • Electromagnetic field propagation in various media
  • Finite Element & Boundary Element Analysis
  • Underwater Signature Analysis (electromagnetic, acoustic, pressure, seismic)
  • Numerical and optimisation methods
  • Modern control theory

Qualifications/Education Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level (or higher) in physics, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline
  • A postgraduate qualification or relevant experience is highly desirable
  • Strong programming skills (experience in C++ is a plus)
  • Experience in electromagnetic modelling, Vector Fields FEA, COMSOL, MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous
  • Strong written communication and report writing skills
  • Confident in presenting and customer interactions
  • Willingness to travel for site work, research, or commissioning trials in the UK and globally
