Design Engineer

• Design position that involves taking Product Engineering designs and turning them into 2D drawings that the production department can work to.
• We need someone with an appreciation for machining processes and how that may impact design work.
• Days based with an early Friday finish!

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with strong 3D and 2D Mechanical design skills to join a growing engineering business. Any exposure to Solidworks CAD package would be an advantage. Position will see you support with converting the designs into 2D for the production team to then use. The manufacturing team are the internal customer base for this particular position.

Salary & Package:c£33,093 to £36,835 per annum as a guide. 25 days holiday + banks. Early Friday finish. 5% pension.

Hours of work: 37 per week - Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 16:00pm, Friday 7:30am to 12:30pm

This Design Engineer job will suit:

• 3D and 2D design skills with well-rounded mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Have an awareness for manufacturing / machining processes, and create designs with this in mind so that they are optimised.
• Solidworks experience. Any wider CAD knowledge will be relevant.
• Some designs can be repetitive in nature so we need someone comfortable working within this environment.

The Design Engineer job will involve:

• Compiling production design drawings to satisfy customer and manufacturing requirements.
• Compiling product design drawings to satisfy customer requirements ensuring they are fit for manufacture.
• Provide practical solutions to problems on the shop floor.
• Reading and interpreting British standards, customers and company standards and specifications to satisfy customer and manufacturing requirements.
• Work with external suppliers / subcontractors with technical data / information when needed.
• BOM creation / amendments.
• Routing creation / amendments.
