Salary: £88.94 - £104.84 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Lincoln. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in ASC Studies to work alongside a committed team in supporting students with Autism and other related needs.

As an ASC Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to students with Autistic Spectrum Condition, helping them to access the curriculum and engage with their peers in an inclusive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) to help them access the curriculum

  • Work closely with the class teacher to develop and implement individualised learning plans and strategies for students with ASC

  • Support students’ social and emotional development by promoting positive behaviour and helping students build social skills

  • Assist in managing students' behaviour in a proactive and positive manner, ensuring their inclusion in class activities

  • Help monitor and track progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers as required

  • Ensure students' individual needs are met, including supporting sensory needs, communication, and personal care when necessary

  • Promote an inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued, and motivated

Essential Requirements:
  • Degree in Autistic Spectrum Condition Studies, Psychology, Education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Passion for supporting students with ASC and understanding their unique learning and developmental needs

  • Experience working with children with ASC in an educational or support setting

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations and work under pressure

  • A proactive, empathetic approach and a genuine desire to support students with ASC

  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable:
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), or in a similar role supporting students with ASC

  • Understanding of communication strategies, including PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton

  • Knowledge of ASC-specific teaching methods and behavioural support strategies

  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
