This role is ideal for someone with strong design experience who is proficient in 3D CAD software.The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
  • Experience in mechanical design within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, machining, and sheet metal design.
  • Ability to produce detailed technical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Fire systems design would be beneficial but not essential
  • Good communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Creating 3D models and technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Developing innovative design solutions for engineering projects.
  • Working closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible.
  • Conducting design reviews and making modifications as required.
  • Producing detailed documentation, including BOMs and technical specifications.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of design processes.
