Are you a skilled and experienced Fluid Systems Engineer looking for a new challenge? Hays is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Principal Applications Fluid Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team and make a significant impact on the future of industrial gas turbines!

About the Role:Step into a pivotal role where you will support innovative solutions by replacing obsolete auxiliary equipment on industrial gas turbines. Your day will be a blend of design, coordination, and problem-solving activities, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure your designs are seamlessly integrated into projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Innovate and Upgrade: Apply the latest technologies to enhance the performance and reliability of gas turbine auxiliary equipment.
  • Collaborate and Coordinate: Work with internal departments, regional divisions, suppliers, and customers to ensure project upgrades are executed within budget and on time.
  • Standardise Solutions: Document your innovative solutions for consistent application across multiple projects.
  • Manage Obsolescence: Identify and source replacements for outdated components, ensuring equipment functionality.
  • Improve Products: Propose and implement upgrades to enhance the overall product lifecycle.
  • Document and Support: Generate and maintain engineering documentation and provide technical recommendations for future upgrades.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Time-served Engineer with approximately 6 years in a Fluid Systems role or equivalent within a similar industry, preferably with gas/steam turbines or gas compression systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in specifying fluid system components and technologies, such as pumps, valves, piping, control gear, actuators, and instrumentation.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Siemens PLM software, 2D CAD (AutoCAD), and SAP is advantageous. Proficiency in MS Office Suite is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and coordination abilities.
  • Self-Management: Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership: Experience overseeing and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Attitude: Proactive, positive, and detail-oriented.
