Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Supplies Officer to join Lincolnshire Police at their Nettleham HQ in Lincoln.

This would be a temporary ongoing role initially. You would be working Monday - Friday 8:30am - 16:30pm, 37 hours per week at £13.28 per hour. This is a fully office based role.

JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE: To provide an efficient and comprehensive Stores service to members of the Force who wear uniform. This will include the initial kitting of Police Officers and Staff, routine replacement, and responding to kitting officers for specialist operations and emergency situations. Maintaining stock levels and forecasting requirements will be a key element of this role.

CORE WORK AREAS:

  1. Approve internal requisitions from Police Officers and Staff for replacement uniform, in line with scale of issue limits.
  2. Monitor stock levels and undertake monthly forecasting activity to determine when orders need to be placed, considering lead times of suppliers. Identifying any slow moving, surplus or obsolete stock.
  3. Raise purchase orders to external suppliers to ensure the availability of stock, considering the lead time of suppliers. Chase Suppliers for deliveries when over the expected delivery date.
  4. Utilise and maintain the computerised stock control system. Ensure the system is kept up to date with issues and returns and provide management information and statistics as required.
  5. Ensure that incoming goods are checked, receipted, and stored as appropriate. Highlight any issues in terms of qualify or shortfall from purchase order quantities and seek to resolve with the supplier.
  6. Arrange for sample products for trial purposes. This may be through independent suppliers or through existing supply frameworks.
  7. Ensure that items are dispatched from the Stores promptly to users. At busy times it may be necessary to pick and pack items with the Stores Assistant.
  8. Ensure any uniform returns to Stores are credited back to the stock control system.
  9. Undertake uniform kittings, measuring individuals and using garment guides to ensure the appropriate size uniform is issued to new starters.
  10. Assist in regular stock checks, and an annual stock take as per force guidance. In conjunction with Finance identify any stock write offs required and process as necessary. Update the computerised stock control system of any balance differences identified during the stock take.
  11. Ensure uniform that is at end of life is disposed of in accordance with Force policy. Reusing specialist items such as handcuffs and batons when appropriate.
  12. Responsible for the safety and security of all stock held within Stores, ensuring the Stores are kept secure when unattended.
  13. Responsible for the Stores environment ensuring that it meets all health and safety requirements, and that safe practices of working are followed, such as manual handling and working at height.
  14. Responsible for ordering, storing, issuing and disposing of PAVA (Section 5 firearm) and other such specialist items.
  15. Attend Force uniform user group meetings as required.
  16. Liaise and build relationships with other force Stores services.
  17. Assist the Contract and Commercial Department in the development of any frameworks for uniforms or related specialist equipment.

Skills required:

  • Proven computer skills, with knowledge and experience of Windows based and/or Oracle applications
  • Basic Health and Safety training or qualification
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Due to Police Criteria, you must have lived in the UK for at least the last 3 years to apply for this role.
  • Experience in working in a Stores environment with a good understanding and knowledge of stock control and audit processes
  • Experience of working to deadlines, with the ability to prioritise workloads that delivers results through effective planning and organisation of workloads.
  • Experience of computerised stock control systems
  • Knowledge and experience gained by previously working in a uniformed stores environment
