The Product Design Engineer will be a crucial part of the Engineering & Manufacturing department, focused on developing innovative industrial and manufacturing solutions. This role requires a creative mind, capable of addressing complex engineering challenges in a practical and effective manner.

Description

  • Concept development: Develop ideas and prototypes to establish the feasibility of designs using suitable prototyping techniques.
  • Product Design: Develop product designs .
  • Product approval: Develop a qualification plan and execute the required product testing against the relevant legislative requirements.
  • Product testing: Organise, manage and conduct testing of new and current products.
  • Product knowledge and support: The engineering team needs to support these products in a variety of ways including answering questions from customers, commercial and operations colleagues. Proactively developing their product, components and system knowledge.
  • Production preparation: Document product manufacturing work instructions and advise production of any jigs and test equipment that will be required.
  • Optimising products for production: New designs should achieve production and warranty objectives within the original NPD project.
  • Innovation: Engineers will contribute to company growth with ideas for new products, cost reductions and quality improvements.
  • Product improvements: Reducing costs and improve the quality of current products when required.

Profile

A successful Product Design Engineer should have:

  • A degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools (SolidEdge, Inventor, Solidworks)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial design principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
  • An innovative and creative mind, with a keen eye for detail
