This role involves purchasing grains, oilseeds, and pulses from arable farmers across Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas to supply domestic and international markets. You will play a key role in managing grower relationships, negotiating contracts, and achieving gross margin targets. The position requires close collaboration with the trading team to identify pricing opportunities and ensure a seamless supply chain for agricultural commodities.

What will I be doing?

  • Purchase grains, oilseeds, and pulses at price levels set by the Trade department.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with arable farmers and other suppliers.
  • Accurately input and manage contracts in the ERP system.
  • Monitor and use market information to inform daily price negotiations.
  • Operate to achieve gross margin targets with performance incentives.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with accounts within your portfolio.
  • Collaborate with third parties who procure grains for the company.
  • Support commodity traders in sourcing products, contract negotiations, and management.
  • Represent the company at meetings, events, and on-farm visits.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure procurement, trading, and execution align with business goals.

  • Good knowledge of excel and powerpoint
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • You need to be confident, proactive, a team player and a natural problem solver

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of AIC and FOSFA contracts
  • Good understanding of arable farming and/or agricultural experience
  • Educated to (minimum) A level, preferably to degree level
