Our well-established clients are seeking a dedicated Multi-Skilled Fitter/Assembly Engineer who is both a strong team player and capable of working independently, ideally with experience in conveyor and automation manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute a variety of engineering tasks efficiently and accurately, with a focus on general assembly (fitting) and machining.
  • Ensure safe working practices for yourself and your coworkers, adhering to relevant risk assessments.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized workspace, free from trip hazards, fire risks, and falling objects.
  • Keep all tools and equipment in good working order, promptly identifying and addressing any faults.
  • Maintain personal protective equipment in clean and good condition, addressing any issues immediately.
  • Conduct yourself in a polite, courteous, and professional manner at all times.
  • Undertake tasks at client sites, which may include occasional travel and overtime as reasonably required by the company directors.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possess a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • An eye for detail and high quality workmanship
  • Able to understand and follow technical drawings and specifications
  • The ability to solve mechanical fitting and assembly issues in a workshop setting as well as customer premises
  • Experience in fault finding and diagnostic investigation works
  • Commercial awareness of costs and working to timescales
  • Familiarity of hand and air tools
  • Experience in working with magnets, hydraulic systems and actuators
  • Assemble and fit parts to form sub-assemblies, working at benches or directly on a machine structure.
  • Assemble, fit and install parts and sub-assemblies such as jig's, fixtures, pneumatics', and other mechanical systems.
  • Check assemblies for alignment, symmetry, dimensions, fit and work quality.
  • Work on site to install equipment, test, operate and commission
  • Working on an array of equipment such as gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, drives and motors etc, and including new walkways, gantries and hand railing etc
