You will be responsible for overseeing bookkeeping tasks, performing bank reconciliations, and ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of VAT returns. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a meticulous eye for detail, and possess extensive experience using Sage Line 50 in an accountancy practice setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Bookkeeping:
-Manage and maintain accurate financial records for clients using Sage Line 50
-Handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording transactions, expenses, and income

Bank Reconciliations:
-Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
-Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

VAT Returns:
-Prepare and submit VAT returns for clients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
-Stay updated on changes in VAT regulations and communicate implications to clients

Client Interaction:
-Interact with clients to obtain necessary financial information and clarify any discrepancies
-Provide guidance and support to clients on bookkeeping best practices

Quality Control:
-Conduct periodic reviews of financial records to ensure compliance with accounting standards and firm policies
-Implement and maintain quality control measures to enhance accuracy

Collaboration:
-Work closely with the accounting team to share insights and best practices
-Collaborate with colleagues to address complex accounting issues

Professional Development:
-Stay informed about updates and advancements in Sage Line 50 functionality
-Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge

Meeting Deadlines:
-Manage multiple client accounts simultaneously, ensuring that all tasks are completed within specified deadlines
-Prioritise workload to meet the demands of a busy accountancy practice

PERSON SPECIFICATION

-Proven experience as a Bookkeeper in an accountancy practice with a focus on using Sage 50
-At least 5 years relevant experience is being sought for this role
-AAT or other relevant qualification would be advantageous
-In-depth knowledge of VAT regulations and experience in preparing and submitting VAT returns
-Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
-Excellent communication skills for client interactions
-Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
-Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting software
