Our client in Sussexisseeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer/Practitioner to oversee caravan site licensing activities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the inspection and regulation of residential and holiday caravan sites, ensuring compliance with legislative standards.
Rate circa 40-46 Per Hour
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Regulation:
- Conduct inspections of residential and holiday caravan sites to assess compliance with relevant legislation and licensing conditions.
- Provide advice to site operators to improve standards and address areas of non-compliance.
Complaint Investigation:
- Investigate complaints related to caravan sites, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of complaint investigations and actions taken.
Fit and Proper Person Assessment:
- Assess applications for fit and proper person status under the Mobile Homes (Fit and Proper Person) Regulations.
- Evaluate evidence and prepare reports for decision-making purposes.
Enforcement Actions:
- Issue compliance notices where necessary to address breaches of site licence conditions.
- Prepare evidence for and attend court or tribunal proceedings to support enforcement actions.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, site operators, and other stakeholders.
- Provide clear and professional communication, including written reports and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Recent and demonstrable experience in a similar Environmental Health role, particularly in housing and caravan site licensing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 and the Mobile Homes Act 2013.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills.
- Experience in enforcement, including issuing compliance notices and attending legal proceedings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including attending sites at short notice.
Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid role, with a combination of remote working and site attendance as required. The role will necessitate a proactive approach to managing workload and availability for site visits on short notice.
