The company is a globally operating chemical manufacturer, which supplies raw materials to most industries. This particular site focuses on the development and manufacture of agricultural, crop protection and pest control chemicals. Due to the development of a new and very innovative product, they are looking to recruit a very experienced leader with a practical or theoretical understanding of fermentation processes for this Production Supervisor role.

Accountabilities of the Production Supervisor:

  • The Production Supervisor will have direct line leadership for 3 Fermentation Technicians and an operator, and will be responsible for performance assessments & development.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing and managing operational tasks within the fermentation department and infrastructure (boilers, compressed air systems, generators, and chillers).
  • You will ensure that ESHQ compliance is met within the fermentation and infrastructure areas including conducting risk assessments and preparing SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  • In charge of prioritising and planning operational tasks, including authorising vacation time and assigning tasks to relevant employees to ensure efficient and stable manufacture.
  • Leading problem-solving activities (e.g. A3) and troubleshooting activities.
  • Responsibility for reviewing risk assessments (RA's) and updating all SOPs.
  • The Production Supervisor will attend weekly maintenance meetings to assist in prioritising essential tasks for engineering, whilst ensuring manufacture and engineering is operating effectively.

The successful Production Supervisor will:

  • Educated to A-level standard (including at least one scientific subject) or hold a BTEC National or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Biotech, Chemicals
  • Hold experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with proven ability to lead or manage a team.
  • Ideally hold a mechanical understanding of plant machinery and equipment e.g. pumps, mixers and valves.
  • Familiarity with lean and modern manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
  • Capable of working accurately in a time-targeted and high-pressure environment without close supervision with the ability to motivate others.
