A nurturing and inclusive school in Littlehampton is seeking an experienced SEMH Support Staff member to join their dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

As an SEMH Support Staff member, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, both one-on-one and in group settings, to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers to implement strategies that help manage behavior and emotional regulation, ensuring each child can engage meaningfully in classroom activities.
  • Support students during transitions, playtimes, and throughout the school day to reinforce positive social interactions and emotional growth.
  • Help develop and deliver personalised learning plans and behavior support plans in partnership with the teaching and SEN teams.
  • Promote resilience, self-confidence, and positive decision-making skills, acting as a trusted role model for students.
Required Experience and Skills:

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience working with children with SEMH needs in a classroom or educational setting.
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to managing complex behaviors and supporting emotional development.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, SEN professionals, and families.
  • An understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing training related to SEMH support and behavior management.
