Job Title: Financial Controller – Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) Location: Hybrid Salary: £50,000–£60,000 (depending on experience), plus benefits including SimplyHealth and pension contribution. Are you an experienced financial professional seeking your next opportunity? We are hiring on behalf of a dynamic, fast-growing business in the creative sector. This organisation is known for its collaborative culture and innovative projects. They are seeking a Financial Controller for a 6–12 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. If you thrive in a hands-on role with a mix of strategic oversight and day-to-day financial management, this could be the perfect fit. Reporting to senior stakeholders, this is a high-impact role requiring strong financial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and adaptability. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation’s financial stability while supporting key operational functions. About the Role As Financial Controller, you will: 

  • Lead weekly cashflow management discussions, ensuring financial health and clarity.
  • Oversee revenue recognition and monthly reporting, utilising tools like Xero and Synergist.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, especially for overseas clients, and actively manage credit control to maintain cashflow.
  • Produce and track financial reports against budgets, working closely with team leads.
  • Develop strong working relationships across the organisation, communicating financial procedures to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Participate in project pipeline meetings, maintaining visibility of ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Collaborate on financial processes, including implementing flexible payment terms with clients to optimise cashflow.
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts (May year-end) with external assistance.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for the studio administrator on finance-related tasks.
 What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will have: 
  • Significant experience in financial management, preferably in a fast-paced or scale-up environment.
  • Expertise in stakeholder engagement, including senior leadership, project managers, and external clients.
  • Strong communication skills to explain financial processes clearly and build trusted relationships.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to improving financial systems and workflows.
  • Assertiveness and confidence to establish boundaries and uphold financial procedures with clients and internal teams.
  • Experience with Xero and a willingness to learn Synergist (training provided).
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA) are a plus but not essential.
