Job Purpose

To provide a full range of financial management support services to the Force, primarily focusing on strategic cost control, cost reduction and income generation initiatives; ensuring the Force is able to operate efficiently within the overall financial constraints of the budget and to enable decisions to be made based on sound financial techniques and professional advice.

Knowledge & Experience

Fully Qualified CCAB Accountant.

Experience of working within a project-based environment, with clear evidence of the strong time-management skills that are required in such a role.

Ability to matrix manage staff where project team members are not direct reports, but require tasking, guidance and review to meet their responsibilities.

Ability to quickly assimilate and understand key pieces of information and issues relating to areas outside of the post-holders core areas of knowledge, in order to perform the role of Project lead on a diverse range of subjects.

The versatility to perform a number of different roles within a number of different and diverse ongoing projects, whilst ensuring that deadlines and SLAs are met.

A communicator with strong knowledge-sharing skills, to discuss complex matters in a clear, concise and understandable way, and strong negotiating and influencing skills to provide a directed and compelling argument when decisions are not clear-cut.

Knowledge and experience of IT systems, in particular, extensive use of Excel or other spreadsheet packages and the preparation of presentations using Powerpoint or other presentational software.

Experience of problem-solving, and challenging existing processes and procedures together with the development and implementation of improved systems where appropriate.
