Service Charge Accountant

Resourcery Group are looking for a Service Charge Accountant for a market leading group in Liverpool with a property portfolio consisting of commercial, residential, industrial & retail properties.

You will work closely with the Accounting, Property Management teams and external auditors to provide a best in class service to our clients.

Requirements In This Role:

Building and maintaining close professional relationships with our external auditors, and colleagues both within the accounting teams and the wider business is paramount to your success. Using your initiative will be encouraged.

The role requires completion of year end reconciliation of Service Charge accounts of varying complexity and size. You will have experience in reconciling large data sets.

To be successful in this role, you will require a high level of attention to detail, strong organisational, prioritisation and communication skills as well as good team working skills and a desire to learn and develop within your role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain financial records for residential and commercial block management portfolios.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts related to service charge accounts.
  • Prepare and issue service charge budgets and year-end reconciliations in accordance with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) guidelines.
  • Ensure timely collection of service charges, ground rents, and other client-related income.
  • Allocate service charge expenses accurately and in compliance with lease agreements.
  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate smooth service charge audits.
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments to contractors and service providers.
  • Manage arrears collections
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, RICS Service Charge Code, ARMA guidelines and other industry regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of property management regulations and update internal financial processes accordingly.

Key Requirements:

Previous experience in service charge accounting, property accounting, or a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of service charge budgets, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with property management or accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables and financial formulas.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
  • Excellent and professional communication skills with the ability to build good working relationships with your colleagues, both within accounts and the wider business.
