Quality Engineer

We are delighted to be supporting our Customer, in their search for a Quality Engineer

Great working hours, Monday-Friday, no shifts!! Days 8am-5pm, Hello weekends!!

Our ideal candidate will have experience withing the Automotive sector, and Injection Moulding

This is a very hands-on role and as well as supporting site, this will involve visiting Customer sites across the Northwest, so a driving licence is essential for this role.

In your new role as a Quality Engineer:

  • Maintain and develop the Quality Management System in line with ISO9001 requirements.
  • Engage in new product introduction activities.
  • Ensure compliance to customer specifications.
  • Manage and resolve customer, supplier, and internal non-conformances.
  • Conduct process and product audits periodically.
  • Identify and act upon opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate process related documentation including work instructions, quality alerts, PFMEA's, control plans etc.
  • Support with production trials.
  • Develop and report on COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) within business.
  • Oversee customer and internally driven engineering changes.
  • Generate and maintain business relevant KPI's.
  • Supervise and lead a team of 3 shift QC personnel.
  • Flexible approach
  • Ability to adapt within the business.

To Be considered for this role as a Quality Engineer:

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working within manufacturing-Injection moulding. Automotive-desirable
  • Experience within a Customer facing role.

Skills and competencies required for the role of Quality Engineer:

  • Working knowledge of core quality tools including FMEA, APQP, SPC, MSA & PPAP
  • An understanding of lean techniques and methodologies
  • An ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Understanding of problem-solving tools
  • Commercial awareness
  • Operation of a CMM / Faro arm
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Sage Accounts / Sage Manufacturing (desirable)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability / experience with Quality Inspection software, Polyworks or similar
