The role:


Driver Project Services are seeking an experienced Cost Engineer with a previous background in oil & gas, petrochemical and/or major construction projects to join our project teams in Liverpool.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Responsible that all cost data is recorded, analysed and reported as per the approved procedures and guidance notes on behalf of the Project Manager.
  • To consolidate and analyse all cost data and to brief the Project Manager on the cost status of the works.
  • To co-ordinate the implementation of the Project Change/Trend Program within the project.
  • Responsible that the Cost Management database is maintained correctly and ensures that forecast and budgeted costs align with cost flows for EV purposes.
  • Responsible for weekly and period reporting requirements are met.
  • To participate in re-forecasts as required by the Programme.
  • To provide guidance and direction to Contractors to ensure compliance with the Contract.
  • To interface with contract administration on contract issues and status of changes. Provide assistance with assessment of changes.
  • To participate and manage the preparation of cost studies utilising historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons.
  • To assist projects in identifying and assessing changes.
  • To participate in and contributes to Value Engineering studies.
  • To co-operate with in all matters relating to health and safety, always including following safe working procedures.


Key candidate criteria:


  • Minimum 5 years cost engineering experience in the relevant sector (nuclear, process engineering, oil & gas or civil engineering).
  • Good working knowledge of recognised project management and controls principles including Earned Value Management.
  • Good working knowledge of the commercial scheduling and estimating software.
  • Degree qualified in a quantity surveying or other engineering related discipline.
