About Us:Ignis Care is partnering with a leading organisation in children's care and education to recruit a passionate Deputy Manager for an 8-bed children's residential home. This service supports young people aged 12-18 with complex mental health needs and behaviours. This role is perfect for an experienced care professional who is ready to step up into a leadership position or further develop their management skills while making a real difference in young people’s lives.

The Role:As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the daily operations of the home. You will play a critical role in ensuring high standards of care are maintained, safeguarding is prioritised, and staff are supported in delivering exceptional care to young people with mental health and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing the care, education, social, emotional, and health needs of each young person.

  • Support in the development and review of care plans, ensuring they reflect the individual needs and progress of each child.

  • Act as a key point of contact for staff, providing guidance, supervision, and support as needed.

  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding protocols, reporting concerns and managing incidents effectively.

  • Assist with managing staffing levels, rotas, and ensuring team cohesion.

  • Foster positive relationships with young people, families, and external professionals.

  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and ensure compliance with all CQC standards.

  • Step into the Registered Manager role as needed, including during periods of absence.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working within children’s residential care, particularly in mental health services.

  • A solid understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and the Mental Health Act.

  • Experience in a leadership or senior care role, with a focus on team development.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and approachable nature.

  • A proactive, solution-focused attitude and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years' recent experience working with children.

  • At least 6 months’ experience in a senior or supervisory role.

  • Knowledge of mental health practices, particularly with children.

  • Enhanced DBS required.
