Your new companyYour new company are Built Environment experts, employing over 1000 people across the UK in civil and structural engineering, architecture, surveying and project management. Their North-based civil and structural team boast an impressive range of developer and client relationships across a wide range of sectors, offering sustainable and innovative solutions at every stage.Your new roleYour role as a Principal Structural Engineer will involve a combination of structural surveys and design work. Your role will involve site inspections to diagnose defects, preparing reports, scheduling remedial works, producing design drawings and specifications for tender.Following Labour's recent budget announcement, there will be vast amounts of funding assigned to RAAC inspections and other publicly owned building inspections, which you will deal with. This includes education buildings, healthcare, social and high-rise housing and various other commercial and nuclear facilities. There will also be an opportunity to get involved with the design of new and existing buildings across similar sectors.Day-to-day team management, client liaison, fee proposals, invoicing and work generation (new or existing) will also all be expected.What you'll need to succeed

  • Ability to evidence broad and proven structural design experience in core materials: concrete, steel, masonry and timber
  • Ability to evidence a breadth of UK based structural design and investigation experience
  • Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
  • MIStructE / MICE Chartered membership is preferred, but is not essential for the right candidate with strong evidence and a proven track record
  • A desire to progress within a forward-thinking structural team, to assist with the running of the team and to directly contribute to the teams planned growth
