Job Title: CNC Turner - Programmer / Setter / Operator
Location: Aintree, Liverpool
Salary: 16.63-17.77/hour (approx. 34k-36k per year)
Potential Earnings with Overtime: 45k-48k
Hours: 39 hours/week + overtime (subject to availability)
Shift: Monday-Thursday 7:30-16:30, Friday 7:30-12:30
About the Role
Total Staff is recruiting on behalf of a renowned subcontract engineering company for a skilled CNC Turner to join their Large CNC Turning Cell. This role involves programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes to manufacture precision shafts up to 3.2m in length. You'll work on one-off and small-batch projects, producing high-quality components for industries such as oil, gas, and power generation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
- Working with live tooling, programmable steadies, and C & Y axis machining.
- Creating precision components from raw bar stock and forgings.
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
- Ensuring work complies with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
Requirements
Essential:
- Time-served engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes.
- Proficiency with Fanuc controls.
- Knowledge of machining exotic metals (e.g., Duplex, Hastelloy, Monel).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with peers and management.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience with Doosan lathes (8"-30" chuck sizes, 1-3.2m lengths).
- Knowledge of Manual Guide and One CNC programming software.
- Familiarity with programmable steadies and C & Y axis machining.
- Background in manufacturing valve and pump components.
- Experience in the oil, gas, and power generation sectors.
