Job title: Day Operator
Salary: 31,500 per year
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour paid lunch break, weekly pay)
We are looking for a dedicated, proactive individual to join our client's team as an Operations Support & Safety Supervisor. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the site and the safety of all personnel. Key Responsibilities:
Performance and Compliance Monitoring
- Provide support to the shift operations team with the loading and unloading of road tankers as directed
- Collaborate with the Chargehand and Site Supervisor to ensure smooth daily operations
- Assist with Wharf duties as required, particularly during boat loading and unloading activities
Risk Assessment & Permit to Work
- Follow the permit to work system, ensuring all contractors comply with safety protocols
- Carry out tasks in accordance with risk assessments and established safe working procedures
- Take on the role of Permit Issuer for the site, ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with regulations
- Act as the Site Lifting Supervisor as needed
Inspection and Maintenance Management
- Oversee the inspection and maintenance of site vehicles including the Volvo, JCB digger, MEWP, and vacuum tanker
- Manage the inspection and maintenance of hired equipment, such as portable pumps used for de-watering coal tar tanks
Miscellaneous Duties
- Contribute to maintaining good housekeeping standards on site
- Perform any other reasonable duties identified by the senior management team, with adequate training provided
Emergency Response
- Act as Site Incident or Main Controller in case of emergencies
- Follow all instructions from the site incident controller or site main controller
- Assist with communication efforts during emergency situations, as directed by senior staff
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in site operations or safety supervision is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of risk assessments and permit to work systems
- Ability to operate and maintain machinery (e.g., vehicles, diggers, pumps)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Must be safety-conscious with a commitment to ensuring compliance with all procedures
