Control of Works Manager -University Of Liverpool

Role Summary

The Control of Works Manager at Integral UK is responsible for overseeing subcontractor operations across all buildings within our remit at the University of Liverpool sites and ensuring a safe system of work for all. Implementing Authority To Work and Permit To Work systems, checking competency and monitoring adherence to RAMS and Point Of Work Risk Assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

Subcontract Management:

Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance

Maintain relationships with subcontractors and resolve any issues

Authority & Permit to Work Systems:

Maintain robust ATW/PTW systems

Review and approve permit applications

Ensure all necessary safety measures are in place before issuing permits

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all work activities comply with health and safety regulations

Coordinate with the Integral UK and University of Liverpool Health and Safety teams to implement safety protocols

Works Coordination:

Liaise with Integral UK and University of Liverpool teams to understand work requirements

Coordinate work schedules to minimize disruptions and optimize efficiency

Resolve conflicts between different work activities or subcontractors

Understand the business needs of the University of Liverpool and help coordinate works around their requirements

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of all permits issued and subcontractor activities

Prepare regular reports on work progress, safety performance, and subcontractor evaluations

Carry out supplier audits as required

Ensure any immediate remedial actions required as a result of Sub-Contractor delivery are recorded and actioned within necessary timescales

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction or technical facilities management
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and permit to work systems
  • IOSHH Managing Safely
  • Technical qualifications and experience essential, previous AP status preferred.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
