Set in beautiful gardens near to Formby town centre, close to the nature reserve and the coast Freshfields Nursing home provides excellent care for individuals with complex needs, physical and mental disabilities. Our care is person focussed with each individuals needs being catered for individually so that they can lead a happy and fulfilling life doing the things they enjoys and accessing a wide range of activities. With 31 bedrooms, 20 of which have en-suite facilities, all on ground level Freshfields is surrounded by extensive gardens with every room having a garden aspect and the majority having direct access to the gardens meaning all our residents can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Freshfields is a model nursing home with expertly trained staff able to support a wide range of conditions.
Working as a Cook / Chef at Freshfields your duties will include the following:
- Creating, preparing, and cooking fresh, nutritious and varied meals for our residents including those who may require modified or special diets.
- Ensuring preparation and presentation is always to a high standard.
- planning meals and consulting with residents and care staff to ensure that individual dietary needs and preferences are catered for.
- Some responsibility for ordering, checking in and controlling supplies.
- Working as part of a diverse staff team.
- Opportunities to influence the menu and the dining experience of those within our care. (quarterly review of menus)
- Ensuring that the dining experience is positive.
- Ensuring that the kitchen standards are maintained in line with the Safer Food Better Business requirements.
- To prepare and present food to a high standard and quality.
- To ensure that you work within an agreed budget.
- To manage and order stock.
Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Cook / Chef:
- The right candidate will have a real passion for Cooking.
- Relevant experience/qualifications in a similar setting working as a Chef or Cook.
- Allergen awareness qualifications.
- Ability to work on shift/rota pattern, including some weekends.
- Have the right to the work in the UK.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Working knowledge of the Safe Food Better Business requirements.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
