One of our primary schools in Kirkby is currently looking for an experienced teaching assistant to support a pupil 1:1 within their Reception class. You will need to have experience of supporting children with complex learning needs ideally ASD, and be happy to help with personal care. The role is full time until February 2025 initially, but will potentially be for the rest of the academic year.

This role offers immense fulfilment, and while prior experience is a school setting is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to special educational needs children on a 1 to 1 basis or in a group setting
  • Ensuring pupils stay on task by supporting them with any additional needs.
  • Assisting the teacher in planning engaging lessons for the class in line with school policies
  • Liaising with the class teacher and parents to provide the best support

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a school environment with SEND pupils is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Immediate availability for full-time, long-term commitment
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Comprehensive CV detailing your education and employment history for the past 10 years, with explanations for any employment gaps

A level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
