A primary school in Huyton is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a Year 6 pupil, providing tailored academic and emotional support in preparation for their transition to the school.
This is a rewarding, full-time role for someone passionate about inclusion and helping every child achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism, focusing on academic engagement, emotional regulation, and social development
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver a consistent and structured support plan
- Adapt classroom activities to ensure the pupil can access and participate in learning
- Monitor progress and share regular updates with staff and parents
- Create a calm, inclusive environment that helps the pupil thrive
Requirements:
- Prior experience supporting children with Autism in a UK primary school setting is essential
- Strong understanding of Autism-related needs, behaviours, and strategies
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) preferred
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two recent references, including one relating to safeguarding
