A primary school in Huyton is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a Year 6 pupil, providing tailored academic and emotional support in preparation for their transition to the school.

This is a rewarding, full-time role for someone passionate about inclusion and helping every child achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism, focusing on academic engagement, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver a consistent and structured support plan
  • Adapt classroom activities to ensure the pupil can access and participate in learning
  • Monitor progress and share regular updates with staff and parents
  • Create a calm, inclusive environment that helps the pupil thrive

Requirements:

  • Prior experience supporting children with Autism in a UK primary school setting is essential
  • Strong understanding of Autism-related needs, behaviours, and strategies
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) preferred
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two recent references, including one relating to safeguarding
