Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Start Date: Monday, 21st OctoberSchool: Northwood Community Primary School, KirkbyContract: Full-time, term-time only

The Role:We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide general support to various pupils with special educational needs across Year 1 and Year 2. You will work with children who need additional assistance to engage with the curriculum and make positive progress in both their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offering general classroom support to children with SEN in Year 1 and Year 2.
  • Assisting the class teacher in creating and delivering differentiated lesson plans to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Supporting small groups or individual pupils to improve academic skills, social inclusion, and behavioural development.
  • Encouraging independence, self-confidence, and positive behaviour in pupils through tailored interventions.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally within Key Stage 1.
  • A supportive, patient, and nurturing attitude to help children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with class teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential.
