DSP Key Stage 2 1:1 Teaching Assistant

The Role:Northwood Community Primary School is looking for a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work within our Designated Specialist Provision (DSP) for Key Stage 2. You will provide focused support to a child with complex needs, helping them to access a tailored curriculum and progress in both academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the child's class teacher and the SENCO to deliver 1:1 support that meets their specific needs.
  • Supporting the child in developing life skills, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Assisting with both academic and practical activities, adapting resources and methods to ensure accessibility.
  • Maintaining close communication with parents and carers regarding progress and ongoing support strategies.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs, preferably in a specialist or SEN setting.
  • A positive, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children.
  • A relevant SEN qualification or experience in a DSP or similar environment is highly desirable.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the school team to create a nurturing and structured environment.
