Teaching Assistant - SEND Specialist

Location: South LiverpoolSalary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and forward-thinking SEND school in South Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.

The Role:As a Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will play a key role in helping students achieve their full potential by assisting with their educational, emotional, and social development. Working closely with the teaching staff, you will provide tailored support and build meaningful relationships with the students.

This role requires someone who is:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting individual students or small groups within the classroom.
  • Assisting with learning activities and adapting materials to suit the needs of the students.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and managing challenges in a calm, professional manner.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in the students.
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging behavior effectively.
  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs support.
  • Experience working in a similar school setting.
