Year 3 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Afternoon Only)

We are looking for a compassionate and patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide therapeutic support for a Year 3 pupil in a warm and inclusive primary school in Kirkby, Knowsley. This part-time role is afternoons only, from 12:00pm to 3:30pm, focusing more on the child's emotional and social development than academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 therapeutic support for a Year 3 child, helping them navigate emotional and social challenges;
  • Create a positive and nurturing environment where the child feels safe and supported;
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies tailored to the child's needs;
  • Assist the child with managing emotions and behaviours, ensuring they remain engaged and settled during the school day;
  • Support the child in building confidence and developing essential social skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children who need emotional or therapeutic support is essential;
  • A calm, empathetic approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships;
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude;
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are preferred but not essential;
  • Understanding of therapeutic strategies or experience working with SEN pupils is desirable.
