About the Company:An established and growing accountancy practice in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead audit assignments and manage a diverse portfolio of clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a leadership role within a dynamic firm and contribute to its continued success.

The Role:As an Audit Manager, you will oversee audit engagements from planning to completion, manage audit teams, and build strong relationships with clients. You will also play a key role in mentoring and developing junior staff members and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and auditing standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing a portfolio of audit clients, ensuring audits are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Planning, executing, and completing audit engagements, ensuring compliance with UK auditing standards.
  • Reviewing audit files and financial statements prepared by the team, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Managing and mentoring junior audit staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Liaising with clients to understand their needs, address queries, and provide audit-related advice.
  • Conducting risk assessments and evaluating internal controls, making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
  • Managing audit budgets and ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in auditing standards, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with the development of the firm’s audit strategy and contributing to the growth of the audit department.
  • Supporting business development by identifying opportunities for additional services and strengthening client relationships.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience in audit within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing standards, UK GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Proven experience in managing audits and leading audit teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on client service.
  • Ability to manage multiple audit assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in audit and accounting software, such as CaseWare, Sage, or similar platforms.
