Role Overview

Aspion are recruiting on behalf of their dedicated client in the Liverpool area who are looking to expand their team and are seeking a skilled and experienced Centre Lathe Turner. The successful candidate will be responsible for machining high-precision pump shafts, including the use of steadies to support and ensure accurate turning of components up to 4.0 meters in length. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing work of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a Centre Lathe to machine precision pump shafts in accordance with technical specifications and drawings.
  • Utilize steadies effectively to ensure stability and accuracy when machining long components up to 4.0 meters.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform precision turning and ensure components meet tight tolerances.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed workpieces using appropriate measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, verniers, dial indicators).
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain lathes and associated tooling.
  • Perform basic maintenance and ensure machinery is in optimal working condition.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and ensure efficient workflow.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience operating centre lathes in a precision engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using steadies and machining long shafts (up to 4.0m) with precision.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and deliver high-quality work consistently.
