A well-established construction consultancy is looking for a dedicated and team-focused Clerk of Works to join their collaborative and supportive team in the heart of Liverpool.

This family-oriented consultancy comprises a close-knit team of 20 professionals, specialising in residential projects such as apartments, houses, extra care facilities, and bungalows. With a strong reputation for serving housing associations across the Northwest, they pride themselves on fostering a welcoming and honest work environment.

The Clerk of Works Role

The successful Clerk of Works will:

  • Review Employers' Requirements, Contractors' Proposals, Contract Programmes, drawings, and specifications to ensure work aligns with high-quality standards.
  • Monitor compliance with CDM 2015, Building Regulations, Planning Approvals, and NHBC/Premier requirements.
  • Produce weekly reports on progress and quality, noting any issues and remedial actions.
  • Conduct regular site visits to oversee project progress and adherence to specifications.
  • Attend Site Progress Meetings, reviewing sample panels, mock-ups, and service installations.
  • Oversee snagging and defect resolution processes, ensuring issues are tracked, reported, and rectified.
The Clerk of Works

The ideal Clerk of Works will:

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, building strong relationships with project teams.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of construction methods, regulations, and JCT contracts.
  • Possess extensive experience as a Clerk of Works on new-build residential developments, preferably working with Housing Association clients.
  • Be a member of ICWCI, CIOB, or an equivalent professional body.
