About the Role:We are seeking a proactive and organised School Attendance Officer to join our dedicated team. This vital role ensures that all children are given the best opportunity to thrive through regular school attendance. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, parents, and staff to monitor and improve attendance and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attendance Monitoring: Track and analyse attendance and punctuality data, identifying trends and concerns.
  • Liaison and Support: Work with families to address barriers to attendance, providing advice and signposting to further support services where necessary.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records in line with school policies and statutory requirements.
  • Communication: Build strong relationships with parents/carers, staff, and external agencies to promote the importance of attendance.
  • Intervention: Implement strategies and initiatives to encourage and sustain regular attendance, including home visits where appropriate.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and updates for senior leadership and external authorities as required.

About You:We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Confident in communicating and building relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Experienced in working within an educational or similar setting (desirable but not essential).
  • Familiar with safeguarding procedures and has a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in using attendance management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A solution-focused attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
