We are working in partnership with a pump rental solutions company with over 70 years of industry expertise and a highly skilled workforce across its nationwide branches.

The company delivers bespoke pumping solutions services to customers in the Water, Environmental, and Construction industries and they are seeking a Workshop Manager to join their team and support the Liverpool Branch, based in Speke.

This position will lead a skilled workshop team, ensuring efficient operations, high productivity, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the servicing, maintenance, and repair of pumps and diesel engines within the workshop.
  • Manage and motivate the team of fitters (both mobile and workshop-based) and the Foreman, ensuring high performance, and productivity.
  • Plan and schedule tasks effectively to meet deadlines, maximise productivity, and maintain a high level of service.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained and competent and deliver workshop training programs as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager to set objectives for the workshop, delivering Toolbox Talks, and Safety Bulletins.
  • Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a hands-on background in diesel engines or similar equipment, you'll need technical expertise combined with strong leadership to grow and develop your team.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Hands-on experience working with diesel engines, pumps, or generators, including fault diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance, before moving into a management role is essential.
  • Proven experience managing a team of fitters and a Foreman, with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead staff.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A strong advocate for Health & Safety, driving a culture of compliance across the team.
  • Formal NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification is essential.
