We are supporting a vibrant and inclusive mainstream primary school in Knotty Ash who havea dedicated Deaf Provision, supporting children who are deaf or have hearing impairments. Theyare committed to providing a nurturing environment where all children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to work within theirDeaf Provision, supporting deaf and hearing-impaired children across various age groups. You will work closely with teachers and specialists to ensure that each child has access to high-quality education and a positive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting deaf children in class and during other school activities, ensuring their full participation.
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of tailored learning plans.
  • Using British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate with deaf students.
  • Encouraging social and emotional development.
  • Working alongside teaching staff and specialists, including Speech and Language Therapists and Teachers of the Deaf.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff

Desirable:

  • Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired children.
  • Knowledge of SEN (Special Educational Needs) frameworks and strategies.
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting learning.
