We are supporting a vibrant and inclusive mainstream primary school in Knotty Ash who havea dedicated Deaf Provision, supporting children who are deaf or have hearing impairments. Theyare committed to providing a nurturing environment where all children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to work within theirDeaf Provision, supporting deaf and hearing-impaired children across various age groups. You will work closely with teachers and specialists to ensure that each child has access to high-quality education and a positive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting deaf children in class and during other school activities, ensuring their full participation.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of tailored learning plans.
- Using British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate with deaf students.
- Encouraging social and emotional development.
- Working alongside teaching staff and specialists, including Speech and Language Therapists and Teachers of the Deaf.
- Providing 1:1 and small group support as required.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
Desirable:
- Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired children.
- Knowledge of SEN (Special Educational Needs) frameworks and strategies.
- A positive and proactive approach to supporting learning.
