Job Purpose:

To provide an efficient porter service to the force, ensuring prompt attention to maintenance of buildings, deliveries & requests for removals of all kinds

Knowledge & Experience:

Possession of a current, clean, full driving license OR be demonstrably working towards one and be prepared to undertake a Police driving assessment

Access to & dependable use of a reliable car

Evident capacity to rapidly gain detailed knowledge of the work site, including: departmental functions & location(s); the nature of any explosive material; location(s) of fire doors/extinguishers etc.; location(s) of first aid boxes & security infrastructure

Fully conversant with emergency fire & bomb evacuation procedures

Responsive understanding of computerised alarm systems with sufficient technical knowledge to silence and reset them

Able to carry out routine maintenance tasks

Firm grasp of Force organisation & policies, including Corporate Assets policies & procedures in relation to Police site working environments

Maintain a flexible working method, prioritising tasks in an efficient & effective manner

Commitment to attend: fire safety, risk assessment & manual handling courses; training & certification in accordance with Road Traffic (Carriage of Dangerous Substances in Road Tankers and Tank Containers) Regulations 1992, Schedule 4
