We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency for our client based in Liverpool. This role is key in managing both weekly and monthly payroll cycles while continuously improving processes and ensuring compliance with legislation. You will also play a vital role in multiple payroll and benefits projects, driving improvements across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the payroll function, managing a team of up to five direct reports.

  • Oversee payroll processing for UK and ROI employees, ensuring a right-first-time approach.

  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, staying up to date with regulatory changes.

  • Administer salaries, pensions, and benefits, including life assurance, private medical insurance, and salary sacrifice schemes.

  • Manage multiple payroll-related projects, including system enhancements and process improvements.

  • Oversee year-end payroll processes, including P11D, P60, FPS, and EPS submissions.

  • Carry out payroll reconciliations, reporting, and internal audits.

  • Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll operations.

  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of payroll systems, with SAP experience preferred.

  • Mentor and support payroll team members, providing training and development opportunities.

  • Support payroll integrations for company-wide acquisitions.

About You
  • Proven payroll management experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience managing and mentoring a payroll team (up to five direct reports).

  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

  • SAP system experience preferred.

  • Comfortable managing multiple payroll projects and driving improvements.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis.
