Key Responsibilities - 18 month People Manager (Maternity Cover)
Employee Engagement: Build strong, effective communication channels to engage and motivate employees, particularly in operations.Union Relations: Foster and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with unions and employee representatives to create a productive partnership.Team Leadership: Lead and develop the HR team, ensuring high standards and driving HR strategies that contribute to business success.Policy Management: Ensure employment policies are up-to-date, compliant, and communicated consistently across the business.Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with operational management to translate business needs into effective HR solutions.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Overseeing the annual People and Engagement Plan, ensuring successful execution and accountability across the business.
- Playing a key role in recruitment, ensuring talent acquisition is cost-effective and aligned with organisational goals.
- Supporting and improving the company's learning and development strategy to foster employee growth.
- Implementing and managing the performance development review process to ensure talent is nurtured and performance managed effectively.
- Ensuring the effective management of employee relations, including discipline and grievance procedures.
- Monitoring absence management, driving improvements, and supporting managers in managing absence effectively.
- Overseeing occupational health services, ensuring timely referrals and managing cases appropriately.
Profile
What We Are Looking For:
- CIPD Qualified (Level 5 or above), with a proven track record in HR management.
- Industrial Relations & Union Experience: Minimum 2 years managing union relationships, including pay and terms negotiations.
- Leadership Experience: Ability to manage, develop, and coach a small team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Generalist HR Experience: Expertise in both strategic and operational HR, from policy creation to daily HR support.
- Experience in Manufacturing or Similar Industry: A strong understanding of unionised environments, with the ability to navigate complex employment matters.
- Strong Communication Skills: Proven ability to engage with employees at all levels and provide clear, concise advice and support.
- Data-Driven Decision-Maker: Experience using HR systems to manage data, generate reports, and provide insights.
- Manufacturing and Production or similar sector experience.
