About the Role:

As a Grounds Maintenance Regional Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and aesthetic presentation of our client's wastewater treatment and network sites. This hands-on position requires a self-motivated individual who is dedicated to maintaining outdoor spaces to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform grounds maintenance, vegetation management, soft landscaping, and building maintenance activities across various sites.
  • Carry out physically demanding tasks in a fast-changing outdoor environment, including exposure to environmental hazards and sewage contamination.
  • Operate and perform daily checks on a variety of powered and non-powered equipment, including vehicles, trailers, ride-on mowers, agricultural vehicles, and small handheld tools.
  • Record completed work on a corporate system and carry out minor remedial work on non-assets.
  • Organize day-to-day activities with the Team Leader to ensure effective utilization of time and maintain material stock levels.
  • Contribute to the training of new starters from the Youth Employment Program and employment agencies.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and comply with regulations and internal company policies.
  • Identify site standards improvements and winter work during scheduled visits.
  • Liaise closely with site staff while on their sites.
  • Apply and handle pesticides, including invasive weed management.
  • Support the Team Leader in developing and implementing new works in line with partner requirements.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Practical experience in grounds maintenance, vegetation management, soft landscaping, and building maintenance in an outdoor environment.
  • Experience using a variety of grounds and specialist machinery, such as pedestrian mowers, strimmers, blowers, pole saws, hedge cutters, ride-on mowers, and tractors.
  • Ability to plan activities on various sites, including both scheduled and unscheduled works.
  • Strong communication skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to dynamically risk assess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Full clean driving license with B+E trailer entitlement.
  • Relevant qualifications, including City & Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides, NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Manually Fed Wood Chipper Operations, and City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Safe Use of a Powered Pole Pruner.
