Urban Empire Recruitment has partnered with a SME company within the retail industry. They pride them self on being forward thinking and striving to make incremental changes that will add up and make a huge difference. We are looking for a Graduate Data Analyst to join a team of 7 that are jointly responsible for leading and monitoring improvements to data, accuracy and recency across all data used by the Data and Insights team to produce top quality analytics and reporting.

You’ll be reporting to the CIO in a challenging, fast paced role that requires high attention to detail and out of the box thinking to make data driven decisions the propel the company forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and report key data and quality metrics.
  • Supporting the data scientist with the machine learning algorithms on ad hoc bases
  • create data matching rules and suggestions for the evolution of these rules to improve data quality. This will be based on data profiling and analysis.
  • You’ll be working with the Head of Data to define our data strategy.
  • Determine root-cause for data quality issues and drive activities.
  • Ensure that business processes are being followed and suggest any changes for improvement.
  • Liaise with Technology and Legal teams to ensure that data security guidelines and processes are known.
  • Represent the interests of the Data and Insights.
  • Communicate progress reports on risks, actions, issues.

Knowledge, skills & experience required:

  • Minimum 2:1 in numerate based degree i.e economics, mathematics or physics
  • Understanding of how data is used to drive analytical and reporting
  • Ability to articulate data concepts for a non-technical audience.
  • Data manipulation skills using Python/SQL.
  • Knowledge of Power BI
  • Able to interpret the impact of changes to business rules on the data.
  • Excellent communication skills both written & oral with the ability to communicate with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across business functions and within cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance and data security principles and related legislation
