Post: Corporate Commercial Paralegal

Based at: Liverpool Office (may require induction/training in Chester office)

Role

The prime role of the Paralegal is to provide direct support to the Fee Earners within the team to enable the Fee Earners to operate at optimum efficiency. This will include but will not be limited to the main duties and responsibilities given below. The ideal candidate will be bright, enthusiastic and hardworking and will feel confident in assisting team members both on individual transactions and as part of wider (possibly multi-disciplinary) project teams. This is a significant opportunity for someone to gain excellent experience early on in their legal career.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Opening files and day to day maintenance in accordance with the department’s Risk Management procedures;
  • Under supervision, generating suitable client care correspondence;
  • Proof reading documents;
  • Under supervision, preparing invoices, completion statements and statements of account and complete accounts documentation as and when directed by the Fee Earner;
  • Carrying out copy typing of documents, including the completion of forms originating from the firm’s own precedent bank and adopting those from Practical Law, Oyez and Lexis Nexis to fit the firm style;
  • Complying with the firm’s procedures and standards for correspondence and documents (including typing, saving and printing) and making the best use of facilities including P4W, Microsoft Office, DocuSign and Adobe pro to ensure maximum efficiency;
  • Carrying out 'tracked changes’ to documents in accordance with Fee Earner’s instructions;
  • Drafting ancillary documents included but not limited to board minutes, shareholder resolutions and other transactional documents;
  • Assisting with submission of due diligence enquiries, reviewing responses and documents received and assisting with due diligence reports and disclosure;
  • Data-room management;
  • Reviewing/maintaining statutory registers including reconstituting where necessary;
  • Filing electronic forms through and uploading documents to Companies House;
  • Providing assistance on the telephone for basic enquiries and to provide such assistance in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care;
  • Meeting clients in person when they are bringing in ID and ensuring that this is then scanned onto Tikit (P4W) accordance with the department’s Risk Management procedures;
  • Undertaking any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development;
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information;
  • Any other duties that are commensurate with job title and salary level.
