Location Clarke Energy Ltd in the UK, with duties in the Overhaul and Repair Centre and in the field. Some overseas travel may be required.

Job Purpose
  • To lead and supervise the overhaul, repair, decoking, etc. of Jenbacher gas engines in the Clarke Energy Knowsley Overhaul and Repair Centre or in the field. To supervise a team of Overhaul and Repair Engineers to complete said works to a defined scope and timescale and to a high quality standard.
  • Majority of time spentEngine overhaul/repair, Overhaul and Repair Engineer supervision, technical evaluations and appropriate scope of works adjustments.

Responsibilities.
  • Supervise the work of a team of Overhaul and Repair Engineers in order to ensure that the work is completed to a high standard of quality and completed on time and to the defined scope.
  • Ensure that all members of the overhaul team contribute to the works, are motivated and work diligently.
  • Provide guidance and first-stage discipline to the engineers under his/her supervision no formal disciplinary action to be taken without the involvement of the Overhaul and Repair Manager and HR Department.
  • Monitor the performance of the Overhaul and Repair Engineers and feed back information to the Overhaul and Repair Manager regarding performance and recommendations for training. Be responsible for evaluations, objective setting and reviews with the members of their overhaul team.
  • Be the prime point of contact for the customer on site with respect to the works to be carried out.
  • Be the prime point of contact for the regional Clarke Energy Area Manager with respect to the works to be carried out in their area.
  • Be the prime point of contact with the Overhaul and Repair Manager, feeding back progress reports or updates for the work and liaising with the Overhaul and Repair Manager upon completion of the works in order to review engineer performance, success, or otherwise of the works (including completion on time and to the defined number of working hours) and to feed back lessons learned. Additionally for chargeable overhauls the Overhaul Team Leader would be responsible for providing the Overhaul Project Manager with regular progress updates.
  • Provide technical leadership for the overhaul team, including being responsible for making decisions on variations to scope of works within defined parameters.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety and customer regulations whilst on site and carrying out toolbox talks with the engineers within the team.
  • Responsible for liaising with Parts team to obtain parts deliveries to site where necessary for scope. For chargeable overhauls will be responsible for ensuring that the works carried out are strictly to the defined scope and will be required to liaise with the Overhaul Project Manager to advise of recommendations for scope changes and to gain approval for such prior to procuring additional parts or proceeding with any variation to the works.

  • Good technical/engine knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Jenbacher overhauls.

Recruitment and succession requirements

Essential
  • Knowledge of reciprocating gas engines and generating modules.
  • Good English verbal and writing skills.
  • UK driving licence, cat B.

Desirable
  • Good IT Skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Navision etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years in a workshop engineer role.
  • Understanding of Jenbacher and Clarke Energy P&IDs.

Anticipated time between appointment and full competence in role.
