We are currently seeking an interim Packaging Manager to work with our global FMCG client, Elida Beauty, renowned for brands such as TIGI, VO5, Toni & Guy, and Brylcreem, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Liverpool City Centre. This is a full-time temporary role for 6 months with the possibility of it becoming permanent, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to 59,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements. The current days working from the office are Tuesday, Thursday and one other day which is flexible.

Your Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Packaging Director, you will be key to developing and driving the growth direction of the brands, whilst ensuring continued product improvement from all angles - whether improved consumer experience, reduced costs, faster execution or any other factors that you determine to be critical for success whilst always considering how to be better for the planet,
You will be working incredibly closely with the small, tight knit, entrepreneurial Elida Beauty cross-functional team (in different time zones, in particular North America)and as such your opportunity to drive business thinking and direction will be both large and critical to success. You will be developing skills and knowledge that will go far beyond that of any typical packaging expert.

Role Accountabilities

  • Delivery of the Elida Beauty packaging programme to drive growth within all Elida Beauty brands, whilst driving improvements across key metrics such as cost, sustainability, design inclusivity and brand recognisability
  • Help develop packaging strategy to win in all channels, taking into account different consumer expectations and SC requirements
  • Partner with x-Functional teams (in different time zones, in particular North America) to deliver insightful innovation and define enabling brand road-maps delivering winning first and second moments of truth. Ensure all developments meet safety, regulatory and quality needs and expectations
  • Ensure relevant and meaningful communication of packaging benefits to internal and external partners through development of appropriate stories and claims. Lead presentation and sharing internally and externally to support business growth.
  • Help define programme & all enabling capability to allow delivery of sustainable packaging through use of Post Consumer Recycled Resin, Recyclability of all packaging components (primary, secondary and tertiary), use of bio resins and executions beyond plastic.
  • Work with key suppliers and partner functions ensure all packaging decisions meet safety and regulatory requirements, as well as LCA scrutiny Responsible for all relevant packaging lab safety and legal compliance

Your Attributes

  • Demonstrated delivery within packaging development either from within a packaging role or from significant contributions to packaging integral innovation project(s) from a supporting function.
  • Formal packaging qualification or alternative transferable technical qualification (scientific degree or qualification) is preferred
  • Track record of delivering of new packaging solutions in market, through working with x-functional teams and external partners (both for production and SC delivery)
  • Knowledgeable in current landscape of plastics sustainability including regulatory environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of product development requirements beyond packaging - with specific knowledge of claims and consumer testing approaches advantageous
  • Stakeholder management and experience of partnering to develop total business case solutions and resolving issues outside of packaging to enable project delivery
  • Engaging orator, with ability to discuss and share ideas to people with differing levels of technical background both internally and externally
  • Significant people leadership experience, with demonstrated examples of people development and coaching over multiple years.
